I Mrs. A. McDiarmid, of Whangarei, has j been spending a holiday with friends in Hamilton. Miss Hoskins has been staying with Mrs. Bull, of Frankton. The engagement is announced of Air. H. Hogg, of Tauranga, to Miss Mary McXicol, daughter of Mrs. D. McXieol, of Hamilton. The engagement is announced of Miss G. Carter, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. .Richard Carter, of Remuera, to ■Mr. P. VV. Maddock, of Hamilton, second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Maddock, of Clifton, England.
i gay and bright, when a "Gipsy" tea 1 and dance was held on Saturday evening. Jolly. i | On Friday last a masked fancy dress ■ . ball was held at Gordonton, which was iI in every way a great success. The hall was very prettily decorated with lovely I ' flowers, and the floor was in perfect i order for dancing. The music was i kindly supplied by Mr. L. McDonald. , llr. Kemp acted as M.C. IMrs. H. Whit- - taker, as chairwoman, thanked all preI sent, and mentioned that their fund now 1 amounted to £0 IS/SH. The chaperons C were 'Mesdames McMullen, D. Martin, f Riddell, Southgate, Mayall, Milne, T. ) Martin, McMahon, O'Hearn and Kedi dington. 1 A very delightUil and jolly little even- . ing was spent at Matangi on Wednesday evening, when the Matangi Glaxo staff i committee entertained members of the - Hamilton Exchange. All present spent - ;i jolly time. During the evening songs 3 were given by Misses M. Crow and Whit- ] ton, Messrs. Williams. Blackie, J oil, Ran- ' stead, Robinson, Corke, Herdnian, and I a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Hicks. A very . dainty supper was served. Before leav!ing Mr. Herdman thanked the commitj tec on behalf of the Telephone Exchange i.' members for their delight till and pleas- ' ant evening. I A delightful little dance was held in j St. Peter's Hall on Tuesday evening, . given by tbe Girls' Friendly Society, which was a great success. The hall was very prettily decorated with ferns ." and lovely yellow wattle. The little dance was a "plain and fancy evening," , which made it all look very bright and c gay. x\ll present seemed to enjoy every . moment of the time.
