The prolonged proceedings in the case in which the Parker-Lamb Timber Go. was charged with a hreach of the Shipping Act, in that on April 1 it fraudulently engaged Edward Donovan as master of the ship Akaroa, in order to clear, and not for the purposes of the whole voyage, were advanced a stage further before Mr. Wilson S.M., at the Auxiliary Court to-day. P. Lamb was finally cross-examined by Mr. Selwyn Mays (for the Marine Department", and then Edward Miteheltson I was called, and gave evidence in respect to introducing W. Lamb to Sir dames Allen. The Minister, he said, was not misled into believing that Petersen wa3 not on the Akaroa. lie considered that, the Minister was aware of Petersen's presence aboard the vessel Herbert Booth, engineer of tbe Akaroa for two years, said that he hail known • both Petersen anil Donovan as master.
