CHAIN OF EMPIRE.

CO-EQUALITY OF THE STATES. LONDON, August 21. Mr G. F. Pea-ree (Commonwealth Minister of Defence), in an interview published in the ''Morning Post," welcomed Mr. L. O. M. S. Amery's conception, outlined in his speech on Saturday, of the Empire as a chain of self-depen-dent and co-equal States. Such a conception, said Mr. Pearce, was calculated to enable the Dominions to realise their ambitions. He pleaded for more and hotter Dominions' news in the British Press, and urged an increased use of the Australian and European wireless systems. He forecasted a2l days' aeroplane mail service between England and Australia.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
