A CONSCRIPTION ORDER. GERMAN SOLDIERS MURDERED (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 11.20 a.m.) COPENHAGEN, August 21. The Poles in Upper Silesia are calling to the colours all men between the ages of 20 and 40. They have assumed power in several towns. Forty German soldiers were murdered at Oberdischow, and bloodshed continues at many places. Although the Germans have been reinforced they have been unable to resist the Poles.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) A CIVILIAN RISING. POLISH" TROOPS NOT HELPING. BERLIN, August 21. Herr Bauer, the German Chancellor, in the National Assembly, declared that the reports of disorders* in Upper Silesia were considerably exaggerated. The military authorities were completely masters of the situation. The Poles had been driven back or captured ivhereY-er they had penetrated into German territory, except eastward of the BeuthenTarnowitz line. The National Polish circles in Upper Silesia, which feared the results of the plebiscite, Yvere proving the weakness of their case by trying to overcome firmly established facts. "Our task," said Herr Bauer, "is to secure an impartial decision in accordance with the Peace Treaty." He was glad to be able to say that the Polish Government was not connected with these affairs. Polish troops were not participating in the disorders. He added that the defeat of the insurgents would mean the defeat of the Spartacists.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.)
