Electorate, I desire to place briefly before yon, through the columns of the Press, the priueiples forming the foundation of th e polb-y upon which I propose to contest this Election:-
I stand for Proportional Representation, the Referendum, Full Civil Rights fori Public Employees, and the removal of the Political Disabilities of Women. Existing Crown Lands to he added to the National Endowments, Tenants to have Absolute Right to all Improvements. A -State Bank, State-owned Shipping Services, state Control of all Branches of' Insurance, Development of our present ' State Coal mines. The extension ot public ownership of national utilities such as Freezing Works and other Food Supplies, j Public Health Is one of tho first cares of the State and National Medical Attention I should be provided free. j Everything possible should be done to maintain a high standard in our Education'; System, providing, free, secular and compulsory instruction from the Kindergarten to the University and Free Uuiform School Books. The Incidence of Taxation should be altered to provide for uu increase -it unearned increments and monopolies, with a corresponding reduction of the Indirect Taxation on the Food, Clothing a ud necessaries of life for the people. The present Pension Scheme should be improved by making adequate provision for National •Superannuation on comprehensive lines. In sickness, unemployment and old ' age the worker should be freed from the I dread of want. | There Is an undisputable right for every | man to work and there should certainly be j ia full recognition of Unionism as the basis of all Arbitration on Industrial Matters. The Military Service Act should be repealed with provision for a Volunteer Citizen Army. There should be a speedy completion of our Main Railway Lines 10 bring thc-m into profitable use, with the accompanying -pushing on of branch lines and good roads to develop the country. The Land is the birthright, of th e people. It should be made cheaper and more easy of acquirement by settlers of all classes. ' Waste lands, whether publicly or privately, owned, should be brought into cultivation. ' Special facilities should be given Soldiers for acquiriug, Land, and those who have no practical knowledge should be given a chance on improved and etcoked farms. The Soldier deserves the best opportunity we can give him. Native Lands should be acquired immediately and developed. A vigorous policy ot "Re-afforestation should be adopted to meet our depleted timber supplies. The Housing Problem is a serio us on o. It must be faced. Government must devise I ways and menus of providing homes for the , people. The weekly rent bill should take Ino more than one day's pay from any man. Generally I will pledge myself to support all Legislation tending to Improve Industrial Conditions, Increase Production, and Ensure a More Equal Distribution of Wealth. My aim will be to assist tha Wage-earner, the Wealth Producer n ud the Men and Women who are prepared to try and make New Zealand what it should be— GOD'S OWN COUNTRY.
