HORSEOWNER DEMANDS LETTING BONUS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Is this exploiting? To my mind ' it savours of the worst formof exploitation that has yet come under my notice, j An owner advertises, "Cottage to let; rent, 25/ per week." And the first ques- ' tion asked applicants is, "What bonus are you prepared to pay!" It follows , j that the highest bidder draws the lucky ! I marble. Is this fair or just? In the i first place, the rent asked is «xhorbi- j tant; and, in tho second place, why I should an owner be allowed a bonus for letting his own property? The cost of | living problem is quite severe enough at ! the present time without the addition . jof a houseowner exploiting to the extent j of demanding a bonus.—l am, etc., WEARY HOUSE-F^NTER.
