STREET TREE-PLANTNIG.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I notice that the One-tree Hill; "Road Board planted forty puriri trees in Rahiri Road, Greenlane. In the interest of economy I wish to point out that puriris or any other evergreen trees of similar "habit are totally unsuitable for 6treet planting, and in most cases prove an absolute failure. For street planting deciduous trees should be chosen, and care should be taken in purchasing only trees which have been specially prepared i in nurseries for the purpose, —I am, etc., H. LOHRMAN.
