According to "Die Flotte," the German Navy League's organ, the German naval war losses in open lighting were one battleship, seven armoured and seventeen smaller cruisers, a hundred and eleven destroyers and torpedo boat*, a hundred and seventy eight submarines, also seven gunboats and twenty-one submarines destroyed to prevent capture and a large number of small auxiliary vessels.
