OFFICERS' RECORDS. Particulars of the members of Lord lellicoc's staff with distinguished re- g :ords, are act out hereunder: — +' Commodore F. C. Dreyer, C.8., C.8.E., the Chief of t.'ie Staff, served in pre-war v Jays with Admiral Viscount Jellicoe a* _ his assistant, at the end of his service is Director of Naval Ordnance at the Admiralty, and as his flag commander afloat in 1911 and 1912. In 1913 he com- t - inanded the light cruiser Aruphion, and ' went from her in October of that year as flag captain of the Dreadnought , battleship Orion until October, 1915, , when he became flag captain bf the fleet flagship Iron Duke, which he commanded . in the battle of Jutland, and until Lord .lellicoe hauled down his flag in Novem- v ber, l!)lfi. Captain Dreyer accompanied fjord Jellicoe to the Admiralty, and ? first served in the newly-formed antisubmarine division of the Naval Staff, c and then for sixteen months as Director °. of Naval Ordnance. On the formation of a gunnery and torpedo division of the 8 Naval Staff in Juno, 1018, Ca.pt. Dreyer was appointed in charge of it as Director T of Naval Artillery and Torpedo, which v position he retained until now. He is c a Companion of the Bath (military and s civil), a Companion of the British Km- ' pire Order (military), and has two Kα?- r sian Orders, in addition to the Legion of ; Honour. c Captain O. I.egjrett, the Fleet Captain, who commands the New Zealand, was navigating officer of the fleet flagship t Iron Duke when war broke out, and on t promotion to captain in June, 1915, retained his post, the old title "Master of , tlie Fleet" being revived. In this capacity ho took part in the battle of 1 Jutland. Early in 1917 he took com- , mand of the modern light cruiser c Caroline in the 4i!i light cruiser c squadron of flic Grand Fleet, remaining in her until appointed to the New Zealand in January. 1010. He holds the Russian Order of St. Anne and the Legion of Honor. Tay Master Captain H. H. Share, C.E., the secretary to Admiral Viscount Jellicoe, also served in prewar days as his secretary in 11111 and 1912 in the Atlantic and Home fleets. He is well known in Australia, where he wa-s secretary to Admiral Sir J-ewis Beaumont, 'Naval (. ammander-in-l'hief. and private secreitarv to Admiral Sir Harry Rawson, and later to tile Governor-General. Lord Northcote. On the outbreak of war he accompanied Admiral Lord Jellicoe to the Iron Duke a< secretary, and, taking part in the battle of Jutland, remained there until the Admiral hauled down his ' Has in November. lUl<>. He acompanied ! Lord Jellicoe to the Admiralty, and was I his naval assistant from December, 1916, Ito the end of 1917. He is a Companion of the Hath (military) and has a Rus--1 sian and a Japanese order, in addition Ito the Legion of Honour, also the Egypt medal, ISS2, and Khedive's Bronze Star. I Commander B. H. Ramsay, M.V.0., Flu;; Commander, qualified as war staff officer in 1013. On outbreak of war was I s-igrml officer on the staff of Vice-Admiral '. Sir D. Gamble, in H.M.s. Dreadnought, in . the (*ra.nd Fleet. Commanded a monitor on the Belgian coast from spring of 1915 Ito spring of 1917. Promoted to comI mi'.nder in June, 1916. Commanded J flotilla leader Broke from spring of 1917 onwards in the Dover patrol. Comsmanded a division of T.B.D.'s during the I night attack blocking Ostend harbour. ' ifo was awarded M.V.O. by H.M. the ; King after transporting him to France, iHe is also a Chevalier of the Legion of j [ Honour and Officer of the Crown of Italy, and holds the Belgian Crobc de Guerre. Commander H. K. Sawbridge, AntiSubmarinu Officer.—Commissioned H.M.s. Kmperor of India as torpedo-lieutenant-commander, and served in her until his I promotion to commander in December, 1917. Attached to experimental and trials section of anti-submarine division of the Naval Staff until the conclusion of hostilities. Was nominated for position in charge of new anti-submarine experimental station at Shandon. Lieutenant-Colonel E. D. M. Robertson, D.F.C., Royal Air Force, previously gunnery lieutenant-commander, Royal ; Navy.—Attached jointly to staff of the I Director of Naval Ordnance and the Director nf the Air Division at outbreak of war. Commanded H.M.s. Riviera (seaplane carrier) till end of 1915. Commended atrial armament development and experimental squadron, R.N.A.S., I Isle of Grain: attached aerial armament section, under Ministry of Munitions. Commanded ;'.ir station, Felixstowe. Lieut.-Commander R. H. F. de Sails, D.S.C., torpedo lieutenant of Victorious Horn outbreak of war till February, 1915. Attached Vcriion mining staff March to June. ISIIS, when he was appointed to staff of captain in charge of mine layers, where lie remained till July, 1917. Commanded a division of six mine laying trawlers on the Helsrian coast in spring of 191(5. Awarded D.S.C. in November, 191(5, and bar in October, 1917. Appointed to the Department of the Director of Torpedoes and Mining. Admiralty, in .(uly. IiHT. Visited U.S.A. from August to December. 1917, to assist ex- ! periinents with new U.S. mine. Has been I present and taken an active part in the i laying of 10,001) mine? on service from ! twelve different vesols, including three j U.S. ships. J Lieut. L. V. Morgan, M.V.0., D.S.C, K.N., Hag lieutenant and signal officer. — J Served a.< Hag lieutenant and signal ! (iflicer to \ ice-Admiral Sir Reginald j Bacon and to Vice-Admiral Sir Roger ! Keys in the Dover Patrol. Took part in the operations of blocking both Zeebnigge and Ostend, and was awarded the D.S.I', for his part in the former operation. Awarded the M.V.O. by H.M. the King in December, I!US. Holds the Belgian Croix de Guerre. lV.y Master Lieut.-Commander C. K. Lloyd, secretary to the Chief of Staff.— Served in H.M.s. Iron Duke, and assisted in the lire control of that ship in the battle of Jutland. Early ill 1017 he joined the Queen Elizabeth when that ship became fleet flagship, fCommander Thomas I*. Calvert, R.N., j the executive officer of H.M.s. New Zealand, is also appointed for submarine duties on the staff. He is a very experienced submarine oflicer, who served !in H.M.s. Iron Duke during the war, until his promotion iv June, 191U, acting I tu* tin- Comiiuinder-iii-L'liief's adviser on technical submarine matters, as well as carrying out his ship duties. He was in charge of one of the Iron Duke's turrets I during the battle of Jutland. In the i autumn of 1910 he took command of one of the large and fast X class submarines attached to the Grand Fleet. In Sep- : tember. 1918, he was appointed to the ' operations division of the Admiralty Naval Staff. Pay Master Lieut.-Commander 11. P. : nunter, D.S.C, R.N. —Served prior to . outbreak of war, and for the first three ' and a-half years of hostilities as secre- ! tary to Captain D. of the 7th destroyer i flotilla, in HJM.s.
