(Received 10.30 a.m.) a LONDON, August 10. * Addressing the House of Commons on ;he Government's policy with regard to the coal industry, to-day, the Premier leiiied that he had committed c the Government to accept every '' recommendation in the Sankey report. However, the Government had accepted t the policy of State purchase of mineral * ights in coal, and proposed that a fund be raised out of royalties to improve lousing and for general amenities for .he miners. Mr Lloyd Ceorge said that the reason advanced "for the adoption of Mr Justice ' -xuikev's recommendation in favour of J nationalisation of the mines, namely,]' that it would produce harmony between •mployers and workers, had been falsified :>y the recent Yorkshire strike, which | f ivns against the State. Moreover, the I l Mate ran the railways, yet the results] ' hail not been harmonious. However, the , fJorcrnnient accepted the principle that ' (here was need for unification and re- . organisation of the mines in order to ' reduce the working management charges-. This could be done by dividing the conn- ' try into areas, of which labour should be amalgamated for a limited period.
