TRAITOHS TTTHN COMES. LOXDOX. July 22. The correspondent of the "Times" in Paris reports that there were moving scenes at the trial of the traitor Louis Richard for causing the. arrest and execution of M. Jacquet at Lille during the German occupation. Madame Jacquet, who was in deep mourning, deposed that her husband assisted Allied soldiers to escape through the German lines. Richard, a lance-corporal, pretended to help, but contrived Jacquet's betrayal. After the latters execution a German detective, Schmidt, pointed out Richard to the widow, saying: "There's the man who gave your husband away. We would hand him over, but he is useful to us." Madame Jacquet, in court, passionately denounced the traitor, saying: "You coward! You've caused my husband, the father of my five children, to be shot for doing his duty." Jacquet's daughter subsequently denounced the accused, concluding: "When will your turn come?" Richard has been accused of many similar acts. Richard broke down under examination and confessed that he had betrayed S4 Frenchmen, including those who assisted Nurse Cavcll.
