RESULTS OF THE WAR. Apparently one of the after results of the war Is a disposition to do more trade within the Empire. During the hostilities supplies were naturally not drawn from enemy countries, and it has hern learned that similar goods can be imported from countries within the British Empire. During the month of March, 1019. Australia purchased from Canada 1.M.0,000 dollars' worth of goods, as compared with 1,201.0 ik, dollars in the same mouth of 1918, representing an increase of 40 per cent. New Zealand also has increased its purchases from Cannda. During the month of March I.HI), nn compared with the same period iii 1018. the increase was from 232,000 dollars to no less than 1,317,0011 dollars. For the twelve months ending March, 1010. the increased value of purchases was from 4.000.000 dollars to 6.200.000. while in 11)17 the total wus 3,000,000 dollars. Amongst the lines New Zealand purchases from Canada are automobiles, iron, and steel manufactures, hardware, wire, and wire nails, as well us canned salmon and herrings.
