WATERSIDE WORKERS' BAND.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—lt is to be hoped that the Waterside Workers' Band Committee will receive whole-hearted support from the public re raising funds for their braos band. As one who has been in touch with the waterside workers of Auckland for many years, I can testify to the immense good which would eventuate from the public co-operation in this matter. To better the social life of this splendid body of indispensable men, on whom we depend to load and, unload our vessels, is a decided move in the right direction. Unmistakable talent is to be found among the waterekle workers, and there are periods of enforced leisure, when the men would have splendid opportunities of making good use of their off time, besides the pleasure to be derived by themselves and their mates, in bringing to perfection their band. Any assistance given to this cause, would help very materially in creating clean amusement, contentment, and good feeling towards , all concerned. I suggest that all intending subscribers should communicate j at once with the secretary and treasurer; ot the Brass Band Committee, care ofj Waterside Workers' Waiting Room, Quay Street. —I am, etc., ARTHUR P. COWIE, Misaioner to Seamen.
