It is unofficially stated that as the articles of the creW of the If akura expire to-day the men have decided to join the strikers.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.) The small loyalist-manned steamer Wauehope, lying in quarantine in Port Philip, was totally destroyed by fire. As a result of the ilour shortage, caused by the shipping strike, the people of Cairns, North Queensland, have been compelled to consume bread made of pollard, the product closely resembling caked sawdustThere are no fresh developments in regard to the shipping strike. In Seamen's Umion circles it is believed that aii absolute deadlock has been reached. The into are prepared for a six months' struggle.
