NOTED CRICKETER'S DEATH.
LONDON, August 1. The death is announced of R. G. Bar- ' low. tke noted Lancashire cricketer, who was famous for his stonewalling.— (A. and N.Z. Cable.) ' Barlow was probably the most famous ; stonewaller in the history of cricket; his ma.nv feats of spending hours at the crease for a handful of runs are known to lovers of the game in England and ' Australia. He was a Lancashire man, and thirty years ago he and A. N. Hornby were the mainstays of the " county eleven. Hornby was a dashing - bat. and Barlow a stonewaller. but the 3 two of them combined to steal runs more - fearlessly and cleverly perhaps than any pair of their time.
