A TRANSVAAL ULTIMATUM.
JETTISONING BOTHA. (Received 9.45 a.m.) PRETORIA, August 1. Mr. Roob, chairman of the 'Transvaal Nationalist party, and General Herzog's principal lieutenant, has issued what amounts to an ultimatum, declaring that if the South African party really desires reunion General Botha must be jettisoned, republicanism must be formally embraced, and a new party, called the South African National party, formed at a congress after the elections. Among the matters to be submitted at the forthcoming Nationalist Congress are j resolutions protesting against acceptance iby the South African Union of the Gcrj man South-west African mandate. The i Nationalist Press approves the resolution jas showing that the great part of the ! Africander people are not responsible for this action of spoliation.— ("Times.")
