PROPOSED NEW CHURCH.
AS SOLDIERS' MEMORIAL. A PRESBYTERIAN MOVEMENT. The annual meeting of members of St. David's Presbyterian Church, Ehyber Pass Road, was held last evening, close on 150 attending. The moderator, the Rev. R. Walker, presided. The balance sheet, showing a credit of £54 1/7, and the annual report, as published, were read and adopted.
A big building programme, including the erection of a new church as a soldiers' memorial, received lengthy and definite consideration. It was resolved, 1 on the motion of Mr. J. Fleming, seconded by Mr. ~T. McMillan, "That the Board of Managers recommend this congregation to authorise them to formulate a scheme by which increased accommodation will be available for the Sunday school, and at the same time to take into consideration the building of a new church as a soldiers' memorial in permanent material on the lines of the plans] submitted by the architect, Mr. Patter-' son. The meeting approved -of the recommendations. In connection with the erection of the new church the Board ofj Managers further recommended that the congregation establish a building fund. This also was approved. Jt is proposed that the church should he on the present site, the present eluiiph to be moved further hack on the section, and to be joined up with the other buildings so as to give increased space .to the Sunday school, the attendance at present being 275. in charge of 37 teachers. The meeting also authorised the management to place a roll of honour in the church.
Nine additional memlbers were elected to the Board of Managers for the ensui-ng year, making the list as follows: P.rofeesor G. Owen. Messrs. H. W. Elliffe, A. Doughty, D. Holland, T. English, W. Lambert. J. Wynne, H. Doughty, and W. Wilson. .7. B. *Bell, T. Bissett, A J. Campbell, ,T. M. Elliffe, T. Nairn, J H. Revburn, W. 'Scott.
