The Government has decided against the nationalisation of the coal mines, and is working out a scheme on the lines pf Sir Arthur Duckham's Teport. The "Daily Mail" understands that the (Yorkshire strike is practically settled, but there will be no resumption before the week-end.
The Mersey strike has been settled, the men's claims being generally conceded.— Service.) The Government is distributing JIOO,OOO weekly amongst textile and steel workers idled through the strike. — :(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
Sir Arthur Duckham, chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Ministry for Munitions, who was a member of Mr. Justice Sankey's Commission, submitted an independent report on the conclusion of the commission's work, in which he summed up against the nationalisation of the collieries. He suggested that tie Government should acquire the prinera! rights.
