THAMES LAND DISPUTE. The Xative Appellate Eoard (Judges Gilfedder and Rawson) was enPged on Friday in hearing , an •ppeal by certain natives against a judgment of Judge MaeCormick JSren in September, 191 S. respecting the Mararearahi Xo. .i Block. Thames. "This S(W valuable piece of land, situated near Jaraaai railway station, Thames, contains 37 acres, and was many years ago inder water, but owing mainly t<i the siting of the Waihou River, the water receded, and the land is now almost Ijlurli aaa dry. xhU pet-uliarity has also been Noticed in neighbouring Ir.nds that fronted the Firth; of Thames. Judge JlacCormivk held tiiat as the main Maramarahi Block fronted the sea. which has receded, this :>7 acres was therefore an 'Bcrement " to the main block, and awarded t!ip nnv land to the owners of ™ main block. Mr. R. J. Coa«s apPsared for Materei and other?. .Mr. E.-?. Withers for Pauna and others, and Mr Hohena for Hamiora ;uid ot'.iers. The Appellate Board (after inspecting the Crown gram and certain old plans that *ere not before :)ie Lower Court I held ■Jst this sr.v land >vas not an increment, because the v.estorn boundary of we main block was not the sea. but «2er native land. Thp nev.- land was. therefore a "no man's land." and the hoard referred t ; ie matter back to -the -atiVp Land Court at Thames for fre=h •nvestigation.
