NEW TRAFFIC OUTLET.

ANZAC AVENUE MUCH USED. Anzac Avenue is already a busy street. !So far only the concrete-work on the south, or up-hill, side of the roadway is j continuous, as the fillings on the nor-1 I them side have to be given time to ( | settle. The tramways strip down the! '[centre of the road is of course un-| touched at present, and the completed; strip of concrete is just wide enough to! allow two vehicles to pass. The road, I with its smooth surface and easy grade,, is already a favourite with motorists.. Heavy horse-traffic is also coming to' use lit extensively, for though concrete] is not supposed to be ideal for horses to get a grip on, the grade of the road is soj gentle that this disadvantage is not| I serious. There is no doubt that as an (easy "lift" from the waterfront the newj I street is without a rival —at least in the. | district east of Queen Street. In fact, ! owners of 'push-bikes" may be seen j pedalling up it without any signs ot undue strain. One feature of the road i< the magnificent view (happily to be preserved to the public) from the small j triangle which is all that remains of the old University site. What the City I Council intends to do with this small plot of ground does not seem to have been disclosed, but it would make a delightful "open space" similar to Emily Place-(a few hundred yards to the westward), and possessing an even finer outlook.
