ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

PONSONBY V. NORTHCOTE. This game was played on Victoria Park on Saturday, and a very uninteresting exhibition was witnessed. In the first spell the play was very even, Ponsonby scoring thrice, while Northcote notched a goal just before half-time. In the second half Northcote had the better of the play, but no score resulted. For Pousonby Knaggs and Saunders scored, while Cross found the net for Northeote. Ponsonby won the toes, and elected to play with a slight wind in their favour. From the kick-off Northcote carried play into Ponsonby's territory. Northcote were trying hard to score, lint their shots were all wide of the mark, and no score resulted. Booth now set his forwards going, and some good combination was witnessed. Clarke, securing on the wing for Poneonby, carried the leather well Into his opponents' territory, and had a shot, which, however, went too high. (By Telegraph.—'Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Saturday. The Association football match. Auckland v. Canterbury, was played this afternoon. The ground was in good order. Canterbury pressed after the kick-off. Dawber headed a goal. Following the resumption of play, Perritt missed a good opening for Auckland by shooting wide, but shortly after, from scrambling play, Auckland scored. Play was fast, each side attacking in turn, and both goals having narrow escapes. At half-time the score was unaltered, one goal'each. The second spell opened with Canterbury attacking, and a shot by Norman struck the bar. Wallwork staved oft a strong attack by bending over. Play was maintained at a great pace. Auckland assuming the aggressive. Hayes secured and shot into goal, but was ruled off-side. Even play continued to the end, the final score being one goal each.
