THE HOCKEY SHIELD.

FIRST MATCHES ALLOTTED. The Auckland Hockey Association has been informed that the first Shield match has been fixed to take place in WelSngton on July 26, when Manawatu will attempt to lift the trophy from Wellington. Canterbury has been allotted the second Shield game, meeting the winners of the first match. After playing the Shield match the Canterbury team will visit Auckland, and will play the local representatives in an inter-provincial game here on August 16. The date of the Auckland Shield tour has not yet been fixed.
