CONSUMPTIVE SOLDIERS.

■—* ■ HAMILTON, Thursday. The Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Boarß read a letter from the Chief ■Health Officer, Dr. T. H. A. Valiutine, suggesting that consumptive soldiers whose condition did not warrant treatment in sanatoria should be located for treatment as near to their homes as possible. He asked how many cases the Board could accept at the hospital. The Defence Department was prepared to supply movable single-bed shelters in order to avoid excluding civilian cases. The medical superintendent approved, and it was decided to apply for six shelters. . The Railway Department intimated that it could" not run a motor vehicle between Pukemiro and Huntly, but would be prepared to run a special tram for any serious cases at the ordinary special'train rates. It was decided to refer the letter to the Pukemiro Medical Society.
