RIOTS IN MALTA.
TROUBLE OVER FOOD PRICES. TROOPS CHARGE MOB. LONDON, June 12. General Sir H. C. O. Pltnner, former Commander of the British Second Army, has been sworn in as Governor of Malta. Serious riots have broken out over food prices and unemployment. Troops charged a mob, using their bayonets and firing several shots. The rioters destroyed the Malta office of the "Daily Chronicle."* Marines were landed to cheek looting. It is believed order has been restored.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
