THE SOLDIERS' CLUB.
The position in regard to the tenancy of the Auckland Soldiers' Club is pointed nut in I lie annual report of tiie Auckland Patriotic Association. After reviewing the finances of the club for the year, which show an actual loss on trading- of £.7:i~>. against which tho subsidy of £S.V) granted by the Patriotic Fund has to be placed, the report {joes on to state that with the termination of the war the tenancy of the promises is drawing to a close. Although a temporary extension may be looked for from the Y.M.I .A. directorate i.t its imperative tliat other premises should he obtained immediately if a Soldiers' Club is to exist in Auckland. Accordingly proposals have been made whereby the Auckland Women's Patriotic League will undertake the erection of a suitable building , . and the City Council has provided a site in Anzae Avenue upon which to erect it. It must not he expected that the Club would be self-supporting, so that it will bo necessary for the executive of the Patriotic- Association to continue to subsidise the funds for such period as the Club may be required, which is estimated to be from seven to ten voare.
