AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION.
TEACHERS' CONFERENCE CONVENED (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ■ WELLINGTON, this day. The Education Department wishes, if possible, to improve the teaching, of ' agriculture in primary and secondary i schools. For that purpose a conference has been called of teachers and represent ■ tatives from the Agricultural Depart* 1 ment. A large number of papers will !be read, and committees appointed to ' digest them. It is generally agreed that teachers at present are not prepared for giving instruction in agriculture; ia I fact, that word is a misnomer, and some other should 'be used.
