NEW BRITISH LOAN
TO COVER YEAR'S DEFICIT. (Received 1.50 p.m.) LONDON, June 2 The House of Commons passed a resolution authorising a loan not exccedinjr C 250.000.000, to cover the deficit for the year. The terms will not be disclosed till the prospectus is issued after Whitsuntide. Mr. Austen Chamberlain, Chancellor of the Exchequer, said that as the result of the ready response to previous loans Britain stood in a position unrivalled among the belligerents who entered the war at its commencement.— (A. and N.Z.
