Firemen, and Cleaners' Aeeociation proposes to send to-day a letter to the Acting-Prime Minister, in which they accept the Government's offer of a round-table conference to discuss matters in dispute between them and the Minister for Railways, btit ask that the Hon. A. M. Myers be chairman of the conference in view of his experience of railway administration. A well attended meeting of the. Auckland branch of the A.S.R.S. held on Saturday adopted a resolution as follows:! "That this branch views with great indignation tlie action of the Minister in exercising the veto in the recent appeaU case. Seeing that the decision of tbe' Hoard was unanimous, this branch calls on the executive to'ask Cabinet to inimediately abolish tin- Minister's right of veto." ■ I The following resolution was passed by the Paeroa branch of-lhe Amalgal'.aicd Society of Railway Servants: —j "That this branch nf the Amalgamated I Society of Railway .Servants take strong exception to the Minister of Railways Using bis power of veto in the Longton appeal case. The finding of the Appeal Board was unanimous that the appeal of Longton should be upheld, and we view with alarm the attitude of the Minister in this case. :is liable to cause friction in all railway societies, and we earnestly request our Executive to take urgent action in this matter."
