MR BARTLEY'S FUNERAL
MASONIC CEREMONI*. ; The funeral of the late Mr. Edwara I Bartley took place this afternoon at ; O'Neill's Point Cemetery, the lengthy cortege of nearly 30 vehicles leaving de- : ceased's late residence, Victoria Koad, Bevonport, shortly after 2 o'clock. Mr. !Bartley was a paetmaster .of Lodge Albion, and at the time of his death was chaplain of the Lodge. The solemn ceremony was accordingly partly Masonic in character, a large number ot fellow maso'hs following trie hearse, among the mourners, the gervice at the. graveside, at which Archdeacon Hawkins presided, being in the impressive ritual of the craft. The chief mourners and pall-bearers were Messrs. Alfrett j Bartley, Arthur Bartley, and Albert BartJev, sons of deceased, and Messrs. F. Mason, W. Allen, and VV. Coates sons-in-law", while among the large attendance of old friends were Mr. TMahoney, vice-president of the New Zealand Institute of Architects, and at the founding of which body in Wellington twelve years ago he and Mr. Bartley represented Auckland. Messrs. H. Brett, J. Edson, and J. J. Holland (representing the trustees of the Auckland Savings Bank), Messrs. G. M. Reid and W. Coftman (representing the Auckland Male Choir), Messrs. C. Williamson, T. Philcox, Bart Kent, and many other representative citizens. The casket was covered with a number of beautiful floral tributes from institutions and friends with whom the fieceased gentleman had been assoeiated'in hie long and honourable career ac a citizen of Auckland.
