GREEN ISLAND STRIKE.
AN ABORTIVE CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN. Tuesday. A conference between the mine-owners, Green Island miners, and representatives i of the Miners' Federation, was held to-! day, when the employers made an offer of an increase on the present tonnage! hewing rate, and agreed to the demands i of the men regarding shift wages. The men's delegates placed the proposals before a meeting to-night, when they were definitely rejected.
