COLLAPSE IN A CAR.
DUE TO HEART FAILURE. An inquest into' the death of Willfam Henry Kirtlan, aged 66, which occurred in a Ponsonby tram car about 5.30 p.m. last evening, was held at the morgue before Mr. J. E. Wilson, S.M., this morning. Dr. C. E. Maguire, medical superin-' tendent of the hospital, stated that the deceased was admitted to the hospital last evening at about G p.m. Life was then extinct. Dr. S. A. Stride gave evidence that he had made a post-mortem' examination, and that in his opinion the cause ot death was heart failure due to the diseased state of the muscle and its vessels.. Mrs. R. E. Wooster identified the body of the deceased, and. Mrs. W. Flvnn a daughter of Mr. Kirtlan, gave evidence to the effect that he had had a slight attack of influenza, and had occasionally complained of pains in his chest. The finding was in 'accordance with Dr. • Stride's evidence.
