COLLISION IN QUEEN STREET.
WAGON AND TRAM. Shortly after two o'clock this afternoon a collision occurred in Queen Street between a wagon belonging to Smith and Caughey, driven by Richard Davis, and an outward bound Dominion Road car. Both vehicles were damaged, though nobody was injured, the driver of the wagon having a lucky escape. The waggon was being driven up Queen Street, and was to be taken to the back of the firm's premises, via Darby Street. The driver maintains that he gave the sign to turn, but when almost the whole of his conveyance had crossed the lines, it was struck in the rear by the tram, and forced against a centre pole. The rear wheels of the wagon were smashed to matchwood, and the driver thrown out. The horses pot free, but were kept under restraint. The tram also suffered a deal of damage.
