AMERICAN MEAT.
HIGHER PRICE THAN DOMINION LONDON, May 27. Sir Newton Moore, ex-Agent-General for West Australia, suggested in the House of Commons that the Food Ministry was selling meat from the Dominions costing lOd at 13rd a pound Dominions costing lOd at 13d a pound wholesale in order to even up the average to the prico paid for American meat, which had been badly bought. He asked if- the Dominion Governments had protested. The Minister of Food (Mr G. H. Roberts) replied that he had received | inquiries from the Dominion Govern- | ments. The meat had to be sold at a ! flat rate, and the cost of all meat puri chased by the Ministry averaged. Most of the imported meat came from America, whore the average price was considerably higher than in the Dominions.— (Reuter.)
