Mr. A. S. Bankart left for Wellington by the express last night. Mr. \V. H. Cheesenian has been appointed Acting-Vice Consul for Sweden at Christchurch. Dr. R. 11. Makgill, District Health Officer at Auckland, was a passenger for Wellington by the express last night. Dr. W. J. H. Hislop is acting superintendent of Wellington Hospital, pending the arrival of Dr. Woodhouse, from England. Mr. and Mrs, Alfred Nathan and their two daughters left by the express for Wellington last evening to catch the lonic for London. Lord Lyle, whose death occurred recently in London, saw active service ac a volunteer in the Maori war, as the Hon. George Lysagb t. Mr. W. Wilcox, formerly superintendent of Quecnstown Domain, but more recently of Te Aroha, has been appointed to the charge of the Government reserves at Te Aroha. Mr. A. E. Greenslade, Major of Xorthcote, who attended the Town Planning conference in Wellington last week, returned this morning by the Main Trunk express. The Right Rev. C«cil J. Wood, D.D., formerly Bishop of Melanesia, leaves Melbourne for England this woek, to take up the appointment of Rector of Witnesham. Suffolk. He will act as assistant Bishop in the diocese of St. Edmonsbury and IpswichThose who have read with pleasure tlie various articles, sketches, and poems of Mr Bartlett Adamson will be pleased to hear of the good fortune which has attended hie latest venture. Mr Adamson, who left Wellington for Sydney little over a month a.go, has found congenial employment there as sub-editor of "Smith's Weekly," a recently-pub-lished periodical. Mr Adamson was for some time company secretary for Whitcombe and Tombs in Wellington, and later became publicity manager for the Xew Zealand Picture Supplies, Ltd.
