BOLSHEVIK DEFEATS.
ON THE NORTHERN FRONT. PATROLS DRIVEN BACK. (Received f).:io a.m.) LONDON. May 22. The War Office reports that our troops on Sunday. in conjunction with the river llotilla, advanced from the left bank of the Dwina. south of Archangel, to the south of Tulgas, taking 21 prisoners. It is believed that the sank a Bolshevik gunboat. The Russian cavalry distinguished themselves in this operation. A strong patrol of Russians on .Monday broke through the enemy's outpost line at Vaga, killing 20 and taking prisoner 71. Several determined patrol encounters occurred on Tuesday at Murmansk, near the railway northward of Lake Onega. • Hir troops drove back patrols and located the enemy's main defence line.
