A,caucus of the Liberal party haa decided to contest the next election on party lines with a different progressive and radical policy. A compromise has been reached on the ferry fares question, the lccal bodies ■having agreed to an amended schedule of "season ticket and freight charges. The Admiralty has ordered a search, for Hawker, regardless of expense, and a". large - fleet of destroyers and other vessels is scouring a wide area west of Ireland. .'.The-Auckland Repatriation Board ia inquiring into the continued employment of temporary public servants, especially "women, in positions suitable for returned soldiers.. Ebert says that.Germany would rather suffer foreign occupation than sign the treaty." Armed resistance would not be offered, but a -passive policy would be adopted. •" .
