The Press Bureau announces the publication by the Foreign Office of n Note communicated to Sir Edmund Allenby onApril 22 by the Cnited Mates Minister at Cairo., announcing that Mr. V\ tlson recognised the British protectorate over Egypt proclaimed in December, IB 14. The President reserves for further discussion the details of recognition, with the question of modification of any American rights which (he decision may entail. Mr. Wilson and the American people have every sympathy with the legitimate aspirations of the Egyptian people for a further measure of self-gov-ernment, hut view with regret any effort to obtain its realisation by recort to violence.-(A. and N.Z. and Reutcr.)
