AN APPRECIATION.

(To the Editor.) .Sir.—Little has been said of the work of the various ladies' committees i throughout the Dominion in supplying "backsheesh" parcels, etc., to us boys while we were "boxing on over there." J I am writing only of Palestine, but I would like tlie women of New Zealand toj know how much we appreciated their parcels, especially when the N.Z.M.R. j Brigade ''posoivd down" in a camp after] a har.l stunt, and found that "buck-| shcesb" parcels had arrived. I have pleasant memories of the feeds my sec-1 tion -'cobbers" and I had when they came along, (if course, at times we re-, ceived some rather funny things. 1 ■ well remember when we were at Talaatj ed Duiniii. receiving a thick woollen niuililer, ancl the temperature at lliej time was round llUeieg-, but, of course, j it kept for the winter. Then again, one l time we received some bully beef in a parcel, and we were absolutely sick of hot. greasy, bully beef; but as it came from New Zealand, and meant home to us. we made a meal of il. We could get little in :he way of luxuries out there, and we really appreciated the tinned fruit or cake which occasionally enme to hand. The V.M.C.A could do very little for us. as we were a mobile brigade, and other similar to (he V.M.C.A. did not operate in Palestine, so we were very grateful for the little things the Lady Liverpool and other societies sent over to us.—l am, etc., TROOPER KIKAU.
