THE AUCKLAND SAYINGS BANK.
(To the I-:.!"-!-i I Sir. —Your corrcspond'-nt, who signs! himself "A Very Old Customer" of the | above institution, is see-king to show that | there is unnecessary delay in dealing witli the general public; 1 wonder if this ge in I. in.in is aware that the business of I the bank is growing in volume very perceptibly, nnd whilst T do not claim that tin- fact alone should be responsible for any undue delay in attending to the public, still it is a factor which bus to be consider.-el. I am shaking with a knowledge i» kindred institutions, in the Old Country as well as in the Australian colonies, not forgetting our own Post Office Savings Rank, and I venture to assert that in no instance within my knowledge is the time- of the public so studied as in the. above institution; ami if any apparent delay does take place the fault lies at the door of the customers themselves, in the fact that oniy a small jii-rcentiige of them take the 'rouble to fill! in their pay-in slips properly, thus n. ■cllesslv taking up the time of the teller, a- we-ll as keeping other p.-ople waiting through their n-'gleet. Another factor which would materially facilitate matters during the busy periods is for customers to have th-'ir passbooks open ni tin- proper place ami their cash in order.— I am, etc., A. MARSHALL.
