COMMISSION CLAIMED.

SALE OF A HOUSE. A claim for £20 commission for the sale of a house in Edendale Road was heard in the Magistrate's Court to-day before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. The plaintiff, H. W. Jolly, land agent (Mr. Sulli--1 van), contended that the defendants, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cates (Mr. Glaister) had authorised the sale and he had found the purchaser, but the sale was carried out through another agent. The defence indicated was that the second agent was the effective cause of the sale and that as defendants had paid a commission they were unwilling to pay more, although a small sum had been offered in settlement. Plaintiff gave evidence at length, and E. E. Crothall, the purchaser of the house, also gave evidence. The case is being continued this afternoon. <
