Colonel E. M. House, Mr. Wilson's adviser, in an interview, said he thought the preliminary peace might be ready by Saturday, and the German delegates here in three weeks' time.

A commission of five members will visit Syria to obtain an idea of the peoples' desires as regards a mandatory. The committee appointed to deal with German shipping has its headquarters at Rotterdam, and not at Hamburg. The Economic Commission is facing great difficulty in drawing up the list of goods which Germany may not export. Allied tows are widely divergent. The Americans take a mild view, and while the British view is moderate, the others desire a stringent list.
