NEW LYNN PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
A reprosenutivo meeting of the residents of New I.ynn \v:is held on Tuesday at tne Presbyterian Church to receive fße report and b.il.anfe-sh"et The president. Mr. Eeid occupied the chnir. The secretary reported that during the year 4C<) parcels were tent awjij". The treasurer reported thut £144 11/7 passed tbrouub the hands nf the Society; £77 2/8 h.-id been expeudpd on purceb, and nearly £"J0 ou postage for the parcels. The Society had now a credit balance of £40 1/B J. After the reports hail been adopted nil members of the old committee were elected. Much discussion tuuk place as to the disposal of surplus funds, but it was decided to leave th.-it matter to the new committee to act. after hearing from the Minister of Internal iiffairs. It was also carried by the meetIng that the two delegates present to the peace celebrations be empowered to express the opinion of the mei-tinj: as to the mad Tisabilily of the children of the district taking part in a larjre demonstration in the Domain instead of locally. At the end or the evening a presentation of a gold bracelet was made to the secretary.
