Joseph - Sullivan (42), who (had got drunk when prohibited, was fined 40/, in default seven days' imprisonment. "A FEW DAYS," AND THEK SOME. Mirke Devieich, a Dalmatian, admitted - that being an alien he changed his place of abode without notifying the registration officer within 14 days. He left his ~ : employment at Otorohanga, in November ' _ and came to Auckland, where he had re«.'- :- mained ever since. It was not until to-' 'i wards the end of February tha* lie re* - ported liis change of address, then stating he had been only a few days in -.-.' town. Inquiries at Otorohanga resulted' ' in the discovery that Devieich had been away from .there nearly three months. He said he had been in ill-health, and had intended going back to Otorohanga} - after receiving treatment. Defendant was fined 20/, and 9/ cost*» THE REMUERA JUMP. F. W. Several persons had been caught ; : and prosecuted, and there had been an immediate decline in the practice. Eliberto Liguera (27), a Peruvian, -was * charged that being an alien and a Iβ* : stricted immigrant be unlawfully landed ; in New Zealand. The circumstance*" :J;stated were that Liguera had been a ■-''■ fireman on the s.s. Opihi, and had failed -. to pass the education teet, but was per> mitted, with another illiterate Peruvian fireman, to stay over in Auckland for ay %. day in order to join anotner oif e&» : .£> company's ships. The other man joined.T-i the ship, but Liguera disappeared, and ■.'-■ was not found until some time later* ; leaving the shipping company liable u> ; a fine of £100. He turned up a few days : : ago, and was arrested. , '"■■' The shipping company having made farrangements to ship the man away fi«m 'New Zealand within a >.w days, the man ■'-' •wjas convicted and ordered to be kept in -- custody until he. was shipped away. MISCELLANEOUS. SelWyn Steele, for motoring at mere i.' than six miles an hour over a Queen Street intersection, was fined. 10s, and - 13/ costs. R. -L. Ren wick, for failing to '. sound his "horn when approaching intersection of Queen and Wakefield " Streets by motor,,was fined 5/, and "tifesg , costs.
