TAUPIRI FAREWELL.

A representative gathering of citizens from all parts of the district assembled in Lovell'a Hall, Taupiri. on Saturday night, when a farewell concert and presentations were tendered to Mr and Mrs R. Ij. Thomas, who are leaving the district. Mr Thomas had for the past nine or ten years been managing t!io Xorthern Timber Co.'s sawmill, "and goes to Tauranga to take up a similar position for another company, lie wae presented with an illuminated address, and Mrs Thomas with rose and salad bowls. Tributes were paid to Mr Thomas for his valuable public services in connection with the telephone and other public facilities, acquired largely by iris efforts. His popularity with the employees at the mill, due to his fosterins of a spirit of mutual help and goodwill, thus avoiding labour troubles, was favourably referred to.
