RAILWAYMEN'S DEMANDS.
SETTLEMENT IN SIGHT.
SCHEDULE OF ALTERATIONS. TO BE SUBMITTED BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph.—Tress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The railway management has now arrived at an estimate of the increased cost of the various items included in the programme of improved pay and conditions put forward by the Railway Societies. Conferences will be held with the Railway Oflicere' Institute on the 20th inst., and with the A.S.R.S. on the 27th.
Afterwards the Minister will submit to the executives of the three societies a schedule of alterations in pay and conditions which he is prepared to submit to Cabinet. This will he. on or l>efore March 31. The new schedule, when approved by Parliament, will be operative from April 1, 1818.
