WORKERS' AIMS.

RAISING "WORLD'S WAGES. CHEAP LABOUR WAKING UP. LONDON, March 9. The correspondent of tbe "Pall Mall Gazette" in Paris has interviewed MiBarnes (in charge of British labour affairs at the Peace Conference). Mr Barnes said that organised Labour had now become an integral part of the League of Nations. The British proposals had been adopted without material alteration, and the Convention offered an encouraging prospect of cooperation between employers and workers. Mr Barnes stated: "VVe aim at giving these international decisions effect without the necessity of penalties. The low wage countries, including Japan and India, have shown that they are alive to the neerl of improving conditions. Italy is becoming remarkably progressive, and even Czceho-Slovakia recently adopted up-to-date labour legislation. Its allegiance is important, as one of the biggest industrial centres in Europe."
