WORKING GIRLS.
AWAY FROM HOME. INADEQUATE ACCOMMODATION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON , , this day. Before the Epidemic Commision to-day Dr. Elizabeth Platts-Mills spoke of her experience during the epidemic, and made an appeal on behalf of girls em- . ployed in Wellington whose homes are ' outside the city. She wished to impress ! on the Government the absolute lack of | accommodation for the class of girls j mentioned. Many of those girls had no , one to look after them properly, particu- i larly when they were taken ill in boarding houses. The position was different at the Y.W.C.A. Hostel. She urged the establishment of more hostel accommodation for girls who are obliged to live away from home, and also advocated provision by employers of better sur- i rounding? and attention for those girls.
