WAJHI, this day. ' Xo settlement having been arrived »t in connection with the Waihi m i ne ! labour dispute ,\lr. Harie Ciiles return to Auckland by to-day's express. v. (iiles met tlie eight men who are "stand' ing out of the union yesterday after* noon, and made every possible effort t» induce them to join. One man out oi the right (who alone attended the maw meeting on Sunday, though all we r» cordially invited) expressed himself w thoroughly satisfied with the result ot the meeting, and felt it incumbent .upon him to join at once. The remaimni seven, despite the fact that, subject U the union delegates admitting and making known to the whole of the men* bers of the union that they had failed ia their duty to inform members that ex, ernption had l.een granted, still em« phatically declined to become members of the union. These seven men appai* ently are not satisfied, and still main, tain the right to remain outside thi union by virtue of the exemption granted.
Mr. Giles was present at a full meet* ing of the executive of the union last night, and conveyed tho decision ot the seven men. A hearty vote of thank* was accorded Mr. Giles for his earnest efforts to affect a settlement.
The executive of the union informed Mr. Giles that the matter was now in the hands of the Federation of Labour. Mr. Giles expressed regret that, after the union conforming with the request made by the men standing out of the union, some more satisfactory result ha* not been attained. . --•
