ST. PATRICK'S TOURNAMENTS.

VETERAN'S DAY. AT AUCKLAND GREEN, The second reunion of veteran bowler; of the Auckland district took place on th. Auckland bowling green to-day. Ovei seventy players participated, the quallfica tion being twenty-one years' practical ex perience ut the game. There was a gooO attendance of spectators, who followed th( pipy with keen Interest, while the clubs which contributed players were Mt. Eden. I onsonby. Rocky Nook, Remuera, Auck land, t'urltou, Grey Lynn, Dominion Road. .Devonport, Takapuna, Whangarei, and I Vtaluku. A veteran visitor, Mr l'erdrlan, i president of tiie Drumoyue Club. Sydney, also participated. The Auckland Club, which is the oldest, bowling club in tilt Southern Hemisphere, was the fitting scent lot play for tbe veterans' tournament, l'rioi to the start of play the bowlers assembled, and .Mr Oliver Nicholson, president of the Auckland Clnb, tendered a hearty welcome to all present. A report was presented by 'Mr .T. Carlaw, who commented on the stiu<_HS of the first gathering of the kind held lust year. He and other members of the committee felt that tbe success of tills year's meeting would exceed that of the pioneer meeting. Three respected veterans have pussril away since last year: Messrs Maurice Casey, ('. (i. l.aurle. and Dr. King. It was decided to form a Veterans' Association, with Mr W. t'ulpan (Auckland Club) as president, and Mr Dingwall (Remuera) as vice-president, these gentlemen being the two oldest active bowlers in Auckland. Choycp (78), Alex. Rose (Tib, .1. S. Stichlmry (7H), 11. Dlngwiill (75), and 11. IVrdriau (78). Before the luncheon interval Mr. Culpan returned thanks for his election as first president. He hoped the members of the Association would live long to enjoy old associations and to trail the kitty. It was unanimously decided to appoint Mr. J. Carlaw us secretary and treasurer of the Association. In confirming this Mr Culpan said that Mr. Carlaw had been closely associated with tbe game for HO years, and he was well known throughout New Zealand and in Australia, it was Mr. Carlaw who evolved the idea of forming a Veterans' Association, and as an acknowledgment the veterans wished to mark their appreciation. He had pleasure in building Mr. Carlaw an engraved silver jug with pedestal stand—n souvenir of the first competition and assembly of veteran .•bowlers hold on Mairifli IT* 1010. Mr Carlaw replied, saying that Mr. J. Kilgour, one of Auckland's champion players, deserved as much credit in the matter as himself. The following committee was elected:— Messrs. Hudson, Stichbury, Kilgour. Hegman, and 11. Brooks. Mr. M. MeCallum. president of the Dominion Rowling Association, congratulated the promoters, and eulogised the Auckland Club for granting the use of Its green. REMUERA TOURNAMENT

The play of the St. Patrick's Day tour--nameiit was resumed on the Remuera- green to-day in fine weather. Twenty teams, occupying ten rinks, continued the fourth round.
