Mr. 11. Aitkenhcad, Waitemata County chairman, writes that in the concluding portion of our report of the Waitemata County Council's organiser's report, published on Thursday, he considers the concluding paragraph is not quite full enough. The full statement was:—"The Council's responsibility is to see that its officials make good in their respective positions, and unless the present officers show themselves able to do so under the improved conditions the Council's duty is evident. If, however, the recommendations which I have made in this report are carried out, I feel satisfied that the Council will be well served by those now in its official employ much better so than by making changes which might quite as easily fail to produce in turn what is required." Regarding the motion for terminating the engagement of the official heads, the motion regarding the county clerk was defeated by nine votes to two, and the motion regarding the countyengineer by eight votes to three.
